"Begin today and write in it your goings and comings, your deepest thoughts, your achievements and your failures, your associations and your triumphs, your impressions and your testimonies. I promise you that if you will keep your journals and records, they will indeed be a source of great inspiration to you, each other, your children, your grand-children and others throughout the generations. Remember, the Savior chastised those who failed to record important events." --President Spencer W. Kimball

Another first!

Baby Katea was born in September, she stayed in the NICU for 134 days.....that's 4 1/2 months.  She came home on February 6th....right smack dab in the middle of RSV season.  Even though she was getting the synagis shot which helps protect her from the RSV virus....we still had to be extemely careful with her.  Her immune system was weak and fragile...if she were to catch anything, it would be so bad because her poor little lungs are already struggling....so bad that if it got bad enough she could die.  She caught the human metapneumo virus after being home from the NICU for only 12 days, so we know how serious it is!  That landed us back in the hospital for another 2 weeks.

So pretty much it's been house arrest for my little miracle since she's been born.  She doesn't leave the house at all unless it to go to her doctor appointments...that's it.  With her being on house arrest, and me being with her 24-7, that means I haven't been able to go to church for that whole time too.  I must say I've missed it!  The rest of my family still goes every Sunday and they come home and tell me what the talks were about, and anything I missed, but that's just not the same as being able to go.

Well, the weather is warmer now....baby is a little bigger....she still struggles with her lungs, because she still needs oxygen all the time, but she's doing so well.  I can't keep her inside forever....I don't want to keep her inside forever.  She needs sunlight.  She needs to breathe the outside air.  Her pediatrician told me that I SHOULD take her out.  Obviously not to places where there will be big crowds or lots of little kids, but I shouldn't live like a prisoner...not for her or for me.  So like I was saying, it's warmer and baby is bigger.....so we did it!  We finally got to go to church!

I dressed her up all cute with her skirt and sweater.....loaded her, her oxygen, and her diaper bag into the car...along with my other kids, and we headed to church. (I opted to leave her monitor at home so I wouldn't have to explain the constant beeping....and I just made sure I kept a close eye on her all the time)  It was so nice to be there again.  There were a lot of people who wanted to see her, but thankfully everyone pretty much kept their distance....I think they're scared of the oxygen!  Lol.  She was so good the whole time we were there....when she was awake she would just look around, but most of the time she slept.

Yay for her very first Sunday at church.....8 months old.....now as long as the weather stays nice and warm...we'll be going to church every Sunday!  Yay for progress!
(Isn't the new face sticker that goes around the nose so annoying?!  Baby can't stand it so I just cut it in half and put it on her cheeks!  haha)
