Makai Kids Birthday Bash

The majority of grandkids on the Makai side celebrate their birthdays around the same time, between the months of July-September.... this year we decided to have one big birthday bash instead of celebrating them all separately. We all went to Leslie's house on Jalen's actual birthday and celebrated all the kids' birthdays. They all felt so special and had so much fun!

At first we went to the park and let them play on the playground....the weather was so nice, not too hot....nice and breezy! Patrick stayed back for a little bit to prepare our lunch for us! Chili-cheese hot dogs, with chips and drinks. We all ate the hotdogs and then Marie played some games with the kids... one of the games she played was having each child stand up and saying something nice, or something that they like about their cousin...it was funny some of the things they came up with... things like "I like his eye-balls" or "she's nice to me sometimes"....hahaha it's so funny to hear the things that kids say. After that, we went back to the house... the kids wanted to walk from the park to the house, which really is not that close...so my Mom, Leslie, Marie and me drove back to the house and waited for them to come running around the corner.

All the kids made their own individual birthday cakes (we actually used the warm delights from Marie's coupon shopping, but it turned out so nice!) They all got to decorate their little cakes with sprinkles and a candle,

and we sang Happy Birthday a few times while they ate their masterpeices!!!
When their cakes were gone and their faces were covered in chocolate, we went outside for the 2 pinata's that uncle Patrick bought. One was Hanna Montana for the girls, and the other one was Cars for the boys. It was funny because Filimone said "I want Hanna Montana, she's my girlfriend" Crazy little boy! They got TONZ of candy....and had so much fun!

Happy 85th Birthday Grandma Sita!!!

Sita Lomu is my husband's grandma, his mom's mom. She's the sweetest lady and in such good health for being 85 years old. I remember when Ova and I got married, we went to Hawaii for our honeymoon and stayed with Uncle Ula. Ma was staying with Ula at that time and I remember every morning that we would wake up, she would have eggs and spam ready for us for breakfast. I love that lady! She seems to always be in a good mood and is always smiling. I amazes me how even if we don't see her for a long long time, she always remembers my name and my kids names...and she's like that with all her grandkids, their spouses, and her great grandkids.
The Lomu family is a huge family and even though the majority of us live here in Utah, we don't get to see each other that often...so when the adults decided to have a family reunion/birthday party for Ma... everyone was more than excited! It was so nice to be able to spend quality time with everyone, every single day at our maulu'ulu practice. It turned out so nice because everyone who was able to, participated.... we learned the song that Ova wrote for the maulu'ulu, and Dino Vainuku came with his brothers every night to teach us all our dances. We ended up doing the maulu'ulu, the grand-daughters did a taulunga, the little great grand-daughters did a number and the little great grand-sons did the haka. It was so nice!! I took a TON of pictures from that fun-filled weekend, but instead of uploading each pictures individually and having to choose which ones to post, I decided to make a slide show with all the pictures from that weekend. Enjoy!

Oldies but Goodies....

So I was deleting old files from my work computer today and I ran across some old pictures that I haven't seen for a long time... I must have spent a good chunck of time looking through all of them, reminissing and smiling about the memories of the pictures.... some when Ova and I first got married (the skinny days)....some from when our kids were first born, and when they were growing up. I can't believe how fast time flies right by. Now we have a 6 year old, a 3 year old and one on the way. I'm so glad I ran across these pictures....made a long day at work a little more enjoyable!

This is why I LOVE taking pictures so much.... you can put them away for a long long time and when you find them, you can reminiss and remember even the little things about the day the picture was taken, feelings and all. Looking back at all these pictures, I can't believe how fast time has flown right by and how big and grown my boys are now. I'm such a proud mom/wife and I love my little family more than anything!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FILIMONE!!

So my baby boy turned 3 on September 7th, this year it just happened to fall on Labor Day....I can't believe he's growing up so fast! I thought I was going to have to work because after asking almost every single person I work with, nobody would work for me because of the holiday...I was so bummed, but prepared to have to work on my son's birthday and just celebrate it the next day...but I figured, he's still young...so he'll be okay with it. I was supposed to go into work at 1pm and at about 1130am I got up to get ready....and to my wondering surprise I got a call from my work. It was one of my friends who just came back from vacation and heard I had been trying to get the day off...she asked me if I wanted her to stay at work and do a double so that I could have the day off. I so jumped on that!! She's the best and I totally owe her!

It was so nice because we got to spend the whole day together as a family. Makai didn't have school because of the holiday and Ova and I were both at home. We ate breakfast, and lunch together and just hung out all day long playing. It was the Lomu family reunion/Grandma Sita's birthday party this past week so we've been going to the park every night to practice the ma'ulu'ulu....we got ready to head to the park for practice. Mone was so funny, he kept running around telling everybody "it's my birthday" and he gots tons of hugs from all his aunties and uncles. And tons of phone calls with birthday wishes from my side of the family...he felt so special! Uncle Moe gave him $5 and he of course ran and spent it on that darn ice-cream man that drives around taunting the kids... and when Auntie Tina and uncle Kina came, they had a birthday cake for him. It turned out to be a really special day and all the kids got together to sing to him. He came up to me after and said with a big huge smile "Mom, this is my big humongus birthday party" I just smiled and said yes.... I unfortunatly didn't remember to take my camera that day, but Auntie Ampee had her camera....so as soon as she posts them I'll steal them and add them.... Happy Birthday Filimone Matakaiongo Fangupo.... I love you!!
