"Begin today and write in it your goings and comings, your deepest thoughts, your achievements and your failures, your associations and your triumphs, your impressions and your testimonies. I promise you that if you will keep your journals and records, they will indeed be a source of great inspiration to you, each other, your children, your grand-children and others throughout the generations. Remember, the Savior chastised those who failed to record important events." --President Spencer W. Kimball

Prayers are answered

My sister's oldest daughter, Jalen just turned 8 years old.  Her baptism was on October 9th at the stake center in Provo.  I got up early in the morning that Saturday and started getting my kids ready to head down to Provo....we didn't want to be late.  We were in such a hurry before we left that we didn't have time to say family prayers, as we were walking out the door, Ova kept saying to Makai over and over again "Makai, make sure you pray so that you guys can drive safely to Provo, bless the van and bless that Mom will drive safely"  He told Makai several times.  I buckled the kids in their carseats and we were on our way.... right before we hit the point of the mountain I heard Makai from the back of the van telling me to pull over because he forgot to say the prayer. I kinda shushed him and told him it was okay...cause I didn't want to be late to the baptism.  He kept bugging me until I finally pulled over.  He said a prayer, just the same thing that his dad had told him...he blessed the van and for us to be safe.  When he was done we got back on the road and entered onto the freeway off of bangerter highway.  I was blasting the Children's Primary Song CD in the van as the boys sang along because they were singing the Holy Ghost song with their other cousins for the program.  When we hit about Thanksgiving point I started feeling weird.  I could tell that something was really wrong with the drivers side front tire.  It felt like it had popped.  I turned the music all the way down to see if I could hear anything...there was a loud clunking sound....there was nowhere for me to turn off so I just put my emergency hazard lights on and drove really really slow.  My boys kept asking me what was going on and I told them something is wrong with the van.... Makai said "Mom, don't worry I prayed"  I actually drove really far with that clunking sound.  I pulled off the University Parkway exit and pulled off to the first gas station I saw.  What I was planning on seeing was a flat tire, which I was going to try to put air in at least to get us to the baptism and then I'd worry about it after.  The tire wasn't flat.  I pushed on it and it was still hard, but it was really really hot and it smelled like burnt rubber.  I sat for a while not knowing what I should do.  Ova was at work and my entire family was already at the baptism.  I decided to take the back roads (thank goodness I grew up there and was familiar with the back roads) and I went like 10mph all the way from Orem to the stake center in Provo.  Didn't think we'd make it, but we did.....we got there right before she got baptized.  After the baptism I asked my dad to come check it out....he jumped in the van and drove it around the church parking lot.  Something was definetly wrong.  He drove my van down to the Les Schwab tire center, and I followed him in his truck.  Right when the mechanic heard us driving up he ran out to the van.  He took the tire off and this is what we saw.....
I had driven on a tire that had a HUGE hole torn from one side to the other.  Wires were sticking out everywhere.  I can't explain how I was able to drive that far with my tire in this condition....only one answer.....Makai's prayer was answered.
